Office air pollution clean bowled by Pure Skies technology

Written by Vidhya Sreenivasan | December 23, 2019
Can air pollution be locked out of our offices and homes? Do air conditioners and closed windows keep us safe from air pollution?

Indoor air quality is typically 3-5x worse than outdoor air. Unless you have an effective air quality plan for our office, chances are that you are breathing air quality that is as bad for your health as it is for your team’s productivity.

Pure Skies 3000 hits century against indoor air pollution
If indoor air quality was like the recent cricket World Cup, then Pure Skies would be the team to beat. No Super Over required.

One of Devic Earth’s customers, an architectural firm located near a busy road in one of Bangalore’s commercial centers, installed a Pure Skies 3000 unit in their 8,000 sq. ft. office in November 2018.

First, baseline indoor air quality was measured for a week using an air quality monitor from Airveda certified to RESET and WELLNESS standards. According to Indian norms, indoor pollution levels were “satisfactory” but were still 3-4 times worse than guidelines of the World Health Organization or building standards such as RESET or WELLNESS. The major pollutants in the office air were particulate matter > 2.5 and 10 microns in diameter (PM2.5 and PM10), and carbon dioxide.

At these levels – common in most offices in developing countries – employees would be expected to experience decreased concentration, lowered productivity, crummy meetings, and increased sick days from work.

Pure Skies was turned on remotely from the control room at Devic Earth, on the other end of Bangalore. If you’ve ever experienced Bangalore traffic, you’ll understand why we prefer to operate Pure Skies over the air.

Air quality index – a composite score of overall air quality – improved by 51% after Pure Skies was installed inside the office.
